If you want to keep your skin in top shape, daily cleaning and lubrication is a must. Do you go to work every morning with all kinds of care products but your skin doesn’t seem so happy? Maybe your day cream is then not suitable.
Mirror, mirror on the wall … what skin type do you have? Do you have oily, mixed or rather dry skin? That is important to know because customized care products make the difference. How does that work exactly?
Without taking into account the various color gradations of the skin, there are four different skin types, classified according to the fat content: normal, dry, mixed and oily skin. The skin type is genetically determined and depends on the amount of sebum your skin produces. Recognize your skin type, choose the best care and get the most out of your skin.
• Normal skin
Normal skin feels soft and is not greasy or dry. The pores are fine and contracted. This type of skin is smooth, well-hydrated and does not shine.
• Dry skin
Dry skin feels rough and sometimes suffers from redness, rash or flakes. Because it is not very elastic and flexible, wrinkles are often visible much faster. Dry skin reacts violently to temperature fluctuations (cold, heat, wind, …).
• Mixed to oily skin
With mixed to oily skin, the sebaceous glands are overactive: there is too much sebum production. Mixed skin produces more sebum in certain areas than in others. You can recognize oily skin by its luster, expanded pores, blackheads, pimples and a dull complexion. These characteristics mainly occur on the T-zone of the face (forehead, nose, and chin).
